Of course, the libraries in the San Jose area are not really ONE place, but MANY places... but it's important to emphasize how valuable libraries are for family learning and fun. 12. Ardenwood Historic Farm
Ardenwood Historic Farm offers a glimpse into life on a family farm between 1890 and 1930. Step back in time as you explore the remnants of the once vast estate of George and Clara Patterson, whose family farmed the land for over 100 years, beginning in the 1850s. East Bay Regional Park District has operated the property as a fully functioning, turn-of-the-last-century farm since 1985.
13. Children's Musical Theater San Jose
Children's Musical Theater San Jose (CMT) trains and educates today's youth through musical theater to set and achieve high artistic and personal goals, and to inspire them to become exemplary artists, patrons and citizens of tomorrow. In a normal year, CMT mounts ten full-scale musical productions at the historic Montgomery Theater in downtown San Jose. 14. Gizdich Ranch
Spend a day with your family at our family ranch and breathe in the fresh air and countryside atmosphere. Pick your favorite fruit of the season right off the tree or vine; then, picnic among the apple trees and the hills. 15. Municipal Rose Garden
San José's 5.5 acre Municipal Rose Garden – a one-time prune orchard – is today one of the most attractive of its kind in the world, drawing thousands of visitors each year. The garden is exclusively devoted to shrubs of the rose family and features over 4,000 rose shrubs with 189 varieties represented. Hybrid–teas comprise 75% of the plantings. These shrubs are characterized by a single high centered bloom per stem.
16. Raging Waters San Jose
Northern California's largest waterpark! More than 23 acres of slides and attractions, including raft rides, body slides, kiddie activity pools, thrill rides, the endless river and wave pool. Raging Waters San Jose was founded in 1985 and is Northern California's Largest Waterpark, offering scenic panoramic views of Lake Cunningham and the San Jose Foothills, over a million gallons of San Jose water slides, rides, and attractions, and 23-acres of family-friendly fun!

19. Spina Farms Pumpkin Patch
Spina Farms Pumpkin Patch is open beginning the last weekend in September through the month of October. Come ride the Spina Pumpkin Express TRAIN for a tour of the Pumpkin Patch. 20. Baylands Nature Preserve
Bounded by Mountain View and East Palo Alto, the 1,940-acre Baylands Preserve is one of the largest tracts of undisturbed marshland remaining in the San Francisco Bay. Fifteen miles of multi-use trails provide access to a unique mixture of tidal and fresh water habitats. Many consider this area to be one of the best bird watching areas on the west coast. The preserve has a substantial resident population of birds as well as being a major migratory stopover on the Pacific Flyway.
