A new multi-city initiative is turning the excitement of the 2026 International Soccer Championship into local community pride. Summer of Soccer, powered by Agents of Discovery, is transforming parks and public spaces into interactive soccer-themed learning environments through augmented reality, digital Missions, AI-powered avatars and friendly city-to-city competition.
The City of San José and Santa Clara County Parks is joining as Team Bay, giving local families and community members the chance to explore participating parks, complete soccer-themed Challenges, and earn points for their team.
June 1 to July 19, 2026, the Summer of Soccer Campaign invites players of all ages to explore participating locations, complete soccer-themed Challenges, and earn points for their team. The campaign is designed to expand access to active play, activate parks as community hubs, and bring the energy and fun of the global soccer stage into local neighborhoods.
Through the free Agents of Discovery app, players can find a “Summer of Soccer” Mission, join Team Bay, and start completing interactive Challenges. These Challenges are designed to teach players about soccer fundamentals, soccer history, city pride, and international championship trivia while encouraging families and community members to get outside, interact and explore.
“The City of San José is excited to join the Summer of Soccer Campaign and create opportunities for families and communities to connect through nature, recreation, and each other,” said Arlinda Duffy, Parks, Recreation Facility Supervisor at the City of San José. “As excitement builds for the upcoming World Cup, this campaign is a fun way to celebrate the joy that soccer brings across cultures, neighborhoods, and generations.”
Summer of Soccer is built around friendly competition. Cities will rally players to complete Challenges and showcase how parks can bring communities together beyond the pitch. Participation and Challenge completions will be tracked throughout the campaign, giving teams the chance to earn bragging rights through creativity, reach, and community engagement.
Players can join Summer of Soccer by downloading the free Agents of Discovery app from the app stores or the web.
