Intro to Welding - School of Visual Philosophy

Thinking about taking a welding class? Now that’s a great idea! So many artists (including myself) have gotten into welding because they needed to build something out of metal. You may even have a welder at home but don't know how to use it! My personal journey with welding started when I was a kid and a bicycle with a side-car attached to it rode past. I thought it was the neatest thing I'd ever seen. "Now how do I make one?" I asked myself. If you’ve ever had that moment where you wanted to create something but didn’t know exactly how to do it (and knew some welding may be involved) I encourage you to explore that curiosity and more specifically to explore welding. Come take an intro welding class and learn the foundations of working with metal. Cutting, grinding, multiple types of welding including Flux core, MIG, and TIG, and some other handy skills like plasma cutting will be touched on in this class. No side-cars in this class...(though maybe one coming up) This is a basic welding introduction and each student will have the opportunity to practice the above types of techniques while also learning how to set up welders, terminology and other cool stuff!
