Join us to discuss how the WPA could serve as a model for sustained public investment in our nation’s cultural infrastructure.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

In conjunction with the “Places for the People” exhibit at Carpenters’ Hall, which features travel posters of iconic Philadelphia landmarks that were commissioned in the 1930s by the WPA’s Federal Art Project, Jane Golden from Mural Arts Philadelphia will moderate a virtual panel discussion on how the WPA could serve as a model for sustained public investment in our nation’s cultural infrastructure, one that responds to the devastating impact of the coronavirus pandemic and the nation’s renewed commitment to social justice and equity. Panelists include Carlton Turner, founder of the Mississippi Center for Cultural Production and co-founder of the Cultural New Deal for Cultural and Racial Justice; Raquel de Anda of the United States Department of Arts & Culture and the People’s WPA; and Ennis Carter, curator and author of Posters for the People: Art of the WPA and director of Social Impact Studios. Registration is free so please join us for what promises to be provocative and timely conversation!

Register today at muralarts.events/WPA.
